SITUATION
Many glass factories are interested in making smart glass, but they
don’t know the basic question: what composition of smart glass? What
smart glass is made of? The following is the answer to the basic
questions: the things you need to make smart glass.

3-1 SMART FILM
Smart film have two kinds: Non-adhesive smart film and self adhesive smart film.
Non-adhesive smart film is often laminated inside the two glasses by
hot melt-adhesive EVA.
And self-adhesive smart film is able to be putted on the installed
window surface.

3-2 BUS BAR AND WIRE
The bus bar and wire to connect the smart film to the power device.
For this part, you can do it your self, or you can ask us to install
it for you. Please make clear when you making order of smart glass
film.

3-3 POWER DEVICE&REMOTE
The power device system is able to adjust the Voltage and controlling
the switch.
The parameter of power device is depending on the type and the square
meters of the smart glass film you need.

Preheating and Exhaust of PVB Film:
After the glass and Polyvinyl Butyral PVB interlayer film is combined,
there are some air between the PVB interlayer film and the glasses.
PVB Interlayer Film can dissolve some of air by itself, but not very
much of it. To extrude the air out, here are the methods:
+Hot roller extrude exhausting air
Hot roller exhausting air has many ways: single thermostat chamber
with double rollers or double thermostat chambers with double rollers.
Single thermostat chamber with double rollers: usually for laminating
flat glass with Polyvinyl Butyral PVB interlayer film. When
pre-laminated glass goes through the frist roller, most of air will be
squeezed  out. Then the pre-laminated glass goes into the thermostat
chamber to heat, then, go through second roller to extrude exhaust
after heating. At this most, air isolation and edge seal is finished
at the same time, the pre-laminated glass looks prey translucent while
the narrow area around edge shows transparent.
The temperature control is very important, in order to expulsion of
air and seal sides of pre-laminated glass successfully, temperature
should be kept about 70-80 degree after going through the second
roller.
If you doesn’t find the prey translucent area after the second
rolling, which means the glass temperature is too low. On the
contrary, if the temperature is too high, edges of the pre-laminated
glass will be sealed too early, which will stop squeeze air out, then
bubbles will appears in the laminated glass.
Vacuuming exhausting air
This method is specially for laminating uneven glass with PVB
interlayer film, such as automobile windshield glass, bending glass.
Put the pre-laminated glass into a vacuum bag or put vacuum rubber
ring to seal the glass, then start  the vacuum pump.
The procedure is divided into two steps: cold vacuuming period and hot
vacuuming period. In the cold vacuuming period, the temperature is
about 25 degrees and holding time about 15 minutes, and the negative
pressure should be at least 0.8 bar. In the hot vacuuming period,
temperature is about 80-110degrees, and holding time about 30 minutes.
And the most suitable temperature and time of hot vacuuming exhausting
air depends on the machine and producing speed.The transparency of the
laminated glass is better if it’s made of the hot vacuuming exhausting
air method.
High-pressure Molding of PVB Interlayer Film
The Pre-laminated glass have went through the Preheating and
Exhausting Air procedure, but the whole pre-laminated glass still have
air inside the laminated glass. In order to finally melt the PVB
Interlayer film and exhausting all the air out, the pre-laminated
glass should be put into the higher pressure laminating autoclave.
There are three steps:
+Heating
Put the pre-laminated glass vertically on the bracket, make sure the
space between the two pre-laminated glass is equal, so each
pre-laminated glass will get the same pressure. Make sure the
pre-laminated glass not touch the metal part of the machine, to
prevent the part of pre-laminated glass get too high temperature and
break out. Close the autoclave and start heating. After the
temperature rise up to 50 degree. Increase the pressure inside the
autoclave. It’s suggested that the speed of increasing pressure and
temperature is :0.06MPA/MIN and 5 degree/min. If the temperature and
pressure is not synchronous, please adust the machine. If temperature
is too fast, then stop increasing the temperature until the pressure
catch up, vice verse .
+Maintaining Pressure Stage:
The temperature and pressure are very important parameters for making
laminated glass successfully. When the temperature and pressure reach
to the setted point (like 120-140 degrees), pay attention to these two
parameters carefully. If the temperature is lower than  130 degree,
the pressure time should be  longer.But if the temperature is lower
than 120 degree, it’s not helpful to keep the pressure time longer.
And the laminated glass may be not adhesive or not very strong. If the
pressure is less than 1.2-1.4MPA, the time for pressure should be
longer, but at the same time, the temperature should be 120-140
degrees. If the temperature is higher than 160 degree, the PVB
interlayer film will turn yellow. And the laminated glass is failure.
+ Cooling with pressure stage
After the maintaining pressure stage, it’s time to cooling the
laminated glass. Still maintain the pressure and open the cooling
water to reduce the temperature. When the temperature reaches 45
degree, start to reduce the pressure. When open the autoclave door,
check the temperature of the laminated glass up and down, make sure
the temperature of the laminated glass is even. Don’t reduce the
pressure too early, otherwise the bubbles would appear on the edges of
the laminated glass.

Condition:
Small bubbles at the edges of safety laminated glass with Polyvinyl
Butyral PVB interlayer film.

Reason: 1)
When the autoclave decreasing the pressure, although the temperature
detector shows the temperature is under 50 degree Celsius, due to the
glass thickness and square, sometimes, the glass temperature is still
higher than 50 degree Celsius, so if the pressure is lowering, some
air will absorbed into the glass edges.

Solution:
Even when the temperature detector shows the temperature is lower than
 50 degree, don’t decrease the pressure too hurry, wait for some
minutes, make sure the real temperature of the glass is lower than 50
degree. If the laminated glass is thick, or many layers, or large
square, then the waiting time should be a little longer.

Reason:2)
The tempered glass is not high quality enough, and the plainness of
the tempered glass is not good enough.

Solution:
Choose better quality tempered glass, or use the thicker Polyvinyl
Butyral PVB interlayer film.

Reason:3)
Maybe the detector of the temperature and pressure is not correct.

Solution:
Make sure the temperature and pressure parameters is correct .

Process the Pre-laminated glass
1.
Cut the pre-laminated glass into a shape and size that you need, and
burnish the edge of the glass for preventing the adhesive smithereens
from causing bubbles after lamination, as well as preventing the glass
edge cutting the silicone vacuum bag/ silicone sheet.
2.
Clean the pre-laminated glass with pure water, deionized water or
solvent (acetone or ethanol), and then dry the wet glass with clean
heat. Make sure there is no any dirt, water imprint or hand imprint on
the pre-laminated glass.

Combine the glass
Spread the EVA Film over the bottom pre-laminated glass, and tenderly
press the wrinkle of the EVA Film. Then put the other pre-laminated
glass over the EVA Film, and make sure every edge of the film and
glass is alined, and consolidate them with heat-resistant tape.
After the pre-laminated glasses and the film is put into the right
place, prune the unnecessary edge of the EVA film, but don’t pull the
EVA Film forcefully. There must be not any oddment on the glass edge
after the EVA Film has been pruned, otherwise the oddment may seal the
glass edge during the vacuuming, and thus allow the bubble stays
inside the laminated glass.
When placing the pre-laminated glasses on the forming shelf, make sure
there’s 3 to 5mm space between each one.
It’s suggested to place a space frame around the glass for better vacuuming.

Forming technique:
Before pushing the forming shelf into the oven, it’s better to turn on
the vacuum pump and check whether the bag is of air leakage. If the
vacuuming works well, then start to vacuum the bag under over 900mm HG
vacuum degree and under normal atmospheric temperature for 2 to 5
minutes.
Push the forming shelf into the oven, set the laminating temperature:
low temperature-60 degree for 15 minutes; high temperature-130
degree(reach 125 degree on the glass surface) for 30 to 50 degree.
Make sure the temperature of the glass surface inside reaches 125
degree for at least 30 minutes, because the temperature inside the
vacuum bag is different from that outside the bag due to the heat
conduction resistance of the silicone sheets.
After the heating and warming is finished, let the inside temperature
decrease to under 90 degree automatically. Then open the oven door,
pull the forming shelf out of the oven, and immediately cool the shelf
with a fan under evenly.
The vacuuming shall not be stopped until the shelf and laminated glass
temperature decreases to less than 50 degree.
Special tips:
In order to guarantee the utmost transparency, not only the processing
temperature must be correct, but also the cooling speed should be the
quicker, the better.

Attention again: in order to avoid any loss, it’s better not use glass
glue when installing the glass. If the glue must be used, it’s
suggested to use the neutral glue that can be dry quickly. It’s better
to test the glass glue and EVA Film in advance so as to prevent the
glass glue from having chemical reaction with the EVA film.

About Machine:

Motor must run positive, if in reverse, it must reconnect the wire.

About laminate glass:

Don’t put different thickness of glass into the furnace one time, the
thinner pre-laminated glass needs shorter time of keeping high
temperature, the thicker pre-laminated glass needs longer time of
keeping high temperature.
7.
Different thickness of the color materials needs different thickness
of Ethylene-vinyl acetate EVA Interlayer Film. Thin one can use 0.38
mm EVA film, thick one can use 0.76mmEVA film.

EVA film become soft temperature is 70℃, then 90℃ start thawing, 110℃
reach dissolve estate. When the temperature ca get 130℃ and keep it
40minutes, Ethylene-vinyl acetate EVA Interlayer Film may finish cross
link reaction.

9.
Different thickness of EVA film, the fluidity at high temperature is
different, the thicker film, the fluidity is larger. When you operate
the machine, you can adjust the time and adjust the temperature based
on real situation and your experience.

10.
Try to use good quality float glass to make laminate glass. If you use
tempered glass, but the flat level is bad, you must use thicker
Ethylene-vinyl acetate EVA Interlayer Film to pile up in order to make
the laminated good quality. Bad flat level glass may make air bladder
on the surface of the glass leads to laminated glass with bubbles
inside.

(Notes: the following is a general guide, there is no guarantee that
they are all correct or suits your laminating machine. )

1.
Install control box:
(1)
The control box must be carried by 2 people,use 4 nuts to fix it in
the specified location.
Attention:Vacuum pump is different from blower.
(2)
Electric Control box connection:connect according the signs at[ wire connecting

Vacuum pump installation:
Connect one side of above ¢9mX18m vacuum pipe to the vacuum pipe
faucet on the table, another side is connected to the vacuum pump air
pump faucet (as picture below)

3.
Orbit installation:
Adjust the two orbits’ height, make it balance to the inside orbit of
the machine, then put the up down car onto the orbit, adjust the width
of the orbit; weld the outside orbit and inside orbit connecting to
make it fixedness. Fix the outside orbit to the floor with screw (as
picture below)

4.
Lift installation:
Waggle the lift toward the “clockwise” direction, lift going up,
waggle the lift backward “clockwise” direction, lift going down.
